El Segundo Beach occupies the western edge of the city, offering sandy shorelines along Santa Monica Bay. The beach features a paved bike path that connects to the larger regional trail system running through Manhattan Beach and Santa Monica. Inland, Recreation Park provides sports fields, tennis courts, and picnic areas for residents.
The downtown area centers around Main Street, which features a variety of local businesses, cafes, and eateries. This walkable commercial district maintains a small-town aesthetic with independent shops and restaurants. Many of the buildings along this corridor date back to the early 20th century.
The city contains several distinct cultural institutions that draw visitors from across the region. The Automobile Driving Museum maintains a rotating collection of classic cars, while the El Segundo Museum of Art (ESMoA) hosts contemporary art installations. The Old Town Music Hall screens vintage silent films accompanied by live music played on a massive Wurlitzer pipe organ.
